Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said today, Monday, that the time has come to end the crisis in the disputed Karabakh settlement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Erdogan condemned Armenia “once again” for attacking the Azerbaijani lands on Sunday, and said that Turkey will continue to stand by the friendly and brotherly Azerbaijan in all its capabilities.
The Turkish president added, “The region will restore peace and tranquility as soon as Armenia withdraws from the occupied Azerbaijani lands.”
Erdogan said that “the crisis that began in the region due to Armenia’s occupation of the Azerbaijani Karabakh region must be put to an end,” adding that “Azerbaijan, which said” the time for reckoning “with Armenia, is now forced to solve its problems by itself.
On the other hand, the Turkish President assured that Turkey does not want tension in the Mediterranean, but peace, cooperation, fairness and justice, noting that “Turkey is a Mediterranean country, and as it has been throughout history and today it is not a guest of this region, but rather we are the people of the house.”
This comes at a time when Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar called on Armenia to “stop its attacks and withdraw the mercenaries and terrorists it brought from abroad.”
Akar said, “Armenia must withdraw from the Azerbaijani lands it occupies, thus opening the way for a ceasefire, peace and stability,” stressing that his country “stands by our Azerbaijani brothers in defending their lands.”
